A Homestead, Florida woman is facing multiple felony charges after Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office deputies say she spent years telling cosmetic-surgery patients she was a licensed nurse and a licensed massage therapist — credentials investigators say she never actually held.
Manouchka Jean-Noel, 27, ran a business called Luxury Cosmetic Curves, advertised on Instagram to people recovering from procedures like Brazilian butt lifts and tummy tucks. Her posts offered lymphatic drainage massage, surgical drain removal, and incision care, and described her as a nurse with years of post-operative experience. In one promotional video reviewed by investigators, Jean-Noel is seen performing a lymphatic massage on a client while blood and other fluid visibly squirt from an open surgical wound.
A $550 deposit that went nowhere
The investigation began after a woman told deputies she paid Jean-Noel a $550 deposit to provide her post-operative care, believing Jean-Noel held the credentials she advertised. The client's surgery was later rescheduled, and she never received any services. According to the arrest report, Jean-Noel refused to refund the deposit and told the woman to pursue the matter through “formal options” if she wanted her money back.
An undercover deputy, a hotel room, and a $3,110 quote
Once deputies opened an investigation, an undercover investigator contacted Jean-Noel directly and arranged to pay her $3,110 for three days of post-operative care, according to the Sheriff's Office. The two agreed to meet at a Homewood Suites by Hilton near Miami International Airport. There, investigators say, Jean-Noel told the undercover deputy she was a licensed nurse and a licensed massage therapist who had been providing post-op care to clients since 2018.
"Fake nurse" stories get shared in every nursing group chat I'm in, and I think it's because the title means something specific to us that it clearly didn't mean to her. Lymphatic drainage massage and drain care on a fresh surgical wound aren't spa services — they're clinical tasks with real complication risk, and "nurse since 2018" is exactly the kind of credential a scared, swollen, three-days-post-op patient has no good way to verify in the moment. Every license you and I actually earned is a background check, a jurisprudence exam, and years of supervised practice standing between a patient and someone like this. When somebody borrows that trust without doing any of it, the bill comes due on our patients, not on us — which is exactly why it's worth reporting when you see it.
The charges
Jean-Noel was arrested on charges that include unlawful practice of nursing, operating an organized scheme to defraud, practicing health care without a license, practicing massage therapy without a license, and using a nursing title without a license. She has not entered a plea as of publication, and is presumed innocent unless and until a court finds otherwise. Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office said the investigation remains open to determine whether other clients paid Jean-Noel for services under the same false claims.
Florida's post-surgical recovery-home industry has drawn repeated scrutiny from Miami-Dade regulators and reporters in recent years, with several other operators accused of running unlicensed recovery services or taking large sums from patients for care that was never properly credentialed. Real nurses and massage therapists in Florida are listed in searchable, public license-verification databases maintained by the state — a check that takes under a minute and that investigators say none of Jean-Noel's clients ran before paying her.
