Abridge, the ambient AI company best known for its physician documentation tools, has announced that Abridge for Nurses is now generally available across its network of more than 250 U.S. health system partners. The announcement represents a significant milestone: for most of its existence, the nursing-specific version of Abridge operated in limited pilots at select institutions. GA means the product is being offered at scale, across all of the company's contracted health systems, as a standard platform feature.
What the Tool Actually Does
Abridge for Nurses functions the same way as its physician counterpart: it listens to patient encounters in real time using ambient audio capture, then uses AI to generate structured clinical documentation — nursing assessments, SBAR handoffs, care plan updates — that nurses review, edit, and sign off on in the EHR. The company reports support for 28+ languages, deep EHR integration across major systems, and coverage of 50+ clinical specialties and care settings including inpatient, outpatient, emergency department, and long-term care.
The platform launched its nursing-specific track through a collaboration with Mayo Clinic in 2024. Since then it has gone live at systems including Corewell Health in Grand Rapids, Johns Hopkins Medicine, Emory Healthcare, and Bon Secours Mercy Health. Abridge earned Best in KLAS for Ambient AI in both 2025 and 2026 — a rating based on direct feedback from health system clients, not self-reported metrics.
The company projects the platform will support more than 100 million patient-clinician conversations across its network.
